In Bandol, France, architect Rudy Ricciotti inserts Villa Mendelsohn in the landscape`.
Here the architect has cut a long oblique in the slope of the hill, a staircase and passage covered with glass distribute the three levels of the house + garage. The retaining wall along the slope is rough concrete, the floors are polished concrete. The walls between levels are out of stone – the villa de Mandrot by Le Corbusier is not far, a 30 m lap pool runs on the 2nd floor between the living quarters and the landscape. Enclosed in glass walls it provides for beautiful aquarium views inside the house. When swimming under water, one seems to be floating in the landscape. Eerie!
